What is "best present for a soon-to-be big brother" for $500, Alex? (hmmm, I love Jeopardy).  I'll have to use names in this one because it'll get way confusing if I don't.  So, my cousin Esther is having a new baby at the end of this month.  She already has an older son that's 2.  I was making onesies for the new baby and I didn't want to leave almost big brother out, so I decided to make him a shirt.  Well, Penny (also my cousin, Esther's younger sister) told me that Chad (Esther's husband) really likes Miley Cyrus' music, but is horribly embarrassed about it.  So, we came up with this idea as a joke.  If you made it through this convoluted story, kudos!!  Here's the shirt!!

aaaand a little closer up:

Hand-dyed shirt, stencil done with freezer paper, and acrylic w/fabric medium.  I made the stencil myself because stencilry didn't have one, so if anyone wants, I can post it.

That's funny!

My daughter loves Miley/Hannah.  I'd love to make her a shirt.

Freezer paper is paper on one side, wax coated paper on the other.  It's usually over by the foil, wax paper, ziploc bags, etc.  There are several tutorials for stenciling with it on the image reproduction techniques on the discussion and questions board.  Basically, you can print or draw onto it, cut out your stencil, then iron it down to your shirt and paint!  The wax side goes down and when you iron it, it melts just enough so that it sticks to the shirt and gives really clean lines.  It's great stuff!

Thanks for the compliments!

I am amazed that you were patient enough to cut out those letters. I hate doing that.

I don't care for Miley, but the stencil came out fab.
