Wtf?

Ok i do my chain stitches at the start then i do my single crochet row next, but when i get to my first chain stitch i dunno where to put the hook?... I'm using online tutorials to help me learn but i just dont get it... lol sorry i feel like such a noob.

when you turn to do your first row of sc, stick the hook in the first 'hole' next to your hook~ you want 1 'loop' on the bottom of the hook and 2 'loops' on the top.  Then you know you've got it in the right place!

Crocheting into the foundation row (the chains) is a pain in the butt for me. Depending on what I'm making, I've sc'd into both loops, one loop and the bottom of the chain for different looks. I say whatever gets you the correct amount of stitches to the end of the foundation raw, but that's just me.
