The Great Knit Cloth-along

I have a question for everyone.  What to do with the leftover yarn after finishing a cloth.  It usually isn't enough to do a second cloth.  I have all of these leftovers.  The only thing I can think of is a rug (that I don't need and it would end up mismatched in a bad way) or swapping them or giving them away or something.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

My favorite solution for this?  Stripes!  And then the really short ones that you can't do anything with are great for stitch markers (make a loop and knot it at the bottom) or for stuffing toys.


Oh, and I'm so in!  I just made my first washcloth this year (I've knitted for so long [15 years, I started when I was 5] and only ever focused on wearables and toys) and I'm so in love!  I'll have to post my Grrr after I embroider his face.

My leftovers I used to make paw print coasters. They're the perfect size and so cute! Coasters, or adding a colorful/contrasting edging on any cloth is my best idea. I'm definitely going to try the Tribble things too.

Here are my first two of 2008! A grandmother's favorite, and a cow cloth for my aunt who is obsessed with cows.

I haven't finished a cloth yet- I'm working on a sweater- but here is an in-progress of the Phantom Cloth I'm desgning:

not very much yet, but I'm working on it.  hopefully i'll finish it this weekend.

That cow cloth is cute!  And I like thecolorway of the grandma's favorite.

First of all, go to the cloth a long blog.  This is the the message from Witchcatxeen:

"We had a power “spike” (whatever that means) the other day. It seems to have fried our router (the thing that gives the high speed internet signal to my wireless laptop). We don’t know when we can buy a new one, shouldn’t be too long. I love all the cloths so far, though the phantom cloth is still a phantom to me 

I am not familiar with paw print coasters.  I will have to look into that.  As for using the small leftovers for stitch markers would be great except I have a zillion stitch markers now from swaps.  I hope I can do that scrubber tonight (or this weekend), if I like it, I might do a few of those.  The rest may go into a rug of some sort (and yes, I was thinking stripy rug).  Holy crap!!, you know what, I can do stripey placemats. hmmm....the possibilities.  Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
