Guin, I love you so much for posting those links. They're really really useful, and plus led me to this link as well:

http://www.korea.net/korea/kor_loca.asp?code=H080406

It's about Korean Pojagi/Bojagi, which are like patchwork furoshiki.

Well, ok this one too, because it has less information but some different information.

Speaking of international lunches... (oh how long I've waited to say that)

Did anyone catch Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (he's on my get out of jail free list with the husband, how I'd like to break off a piece of that...) in India when he described the Tiffin lunch process?  The whole thing made me wish I had an Indian wife at home and a hyper organized lunch delivery system.

If the people at my local Indian grocery would actually pay attention to me, I bet I could get one for less than the $80 ones that are popping up everywhere online.

I'm not in this swap, but you can get the various flavors of Kit-Kat through J-List (http://www.jlist.com/), I bought a bunch of snacks for my daughter for Christmas from them.

What is a Tiffin lunch process? I googled but didn't find much that explained it. Sounds interesting.

So I went to my car this morning and find MY bento swap box from Laural sitting under the group mailboxes!!  AHHHH!!!!  I was so mad!  Why did the post guy not bring it to me!!!
Thank goodness it was sitting there and no one stole it!  Yikes!

Anyhow, I ran inside to tear into the bento-goodness.

Laural sent me a bunch of bento things that I have been itching to get but have never bought (because I would have to order them online and I'm too lazy).  Wow, I'm going to have a blast with these things.  In fact, I just bought a bamboo mat, sushi rice, mirin and Nori sheets for the first time ever.  I'm going to experiment this weekend and have a bento party all by myself.

So here is what is in the box:

A lock & lock box (I have one bento box now but this will definitely come in handy!)
Soba Noodles!  (Yum!)
Cute cartoon animal food picks
Hello Kitty Sauce containers
Plastic grass dividers (i LOVE these things!)
Rice molds (I have been dying for these and will try making molded eggs with them too!)

Thank you Laural!!!

PS--I did not put the pug in the picture.  He put himself there!
He thinks any time the camera is out it must be to take a photo of him Smiley

The tiffin process is basically such:

1.  Guy goes to work
2.  Wife slaves over stove to make home cooked meal
3.  Guy on bicycle has a daily route and picks up home cooked meal some time in the morning/late morning
4.  Bicycle guy brings tiffin to guy at work OR bicycle guy puts it on a train, rickshaw, boat, some other form of transportation, and there is a complex tracking system of marking the tiffins with a colored dot and gets it on its merry way.
5.  working guy gets the tiffin delivered right to his work, hot (due to the stainless steel tiffin), home-cooked lunch from his wife.

The whole thing is so efficient that they have something like a 1-2% error rate out of the millions that are delivered every day, and it costs less than $5 a month to participate in India.
