Am I supposed to make a turning chain at the beginning of a forward row of double crochet?  I know on the reverse you kinda make one but the edge looks completely different if I don't on the other.

I am making a scarf and it is making me insane.   None of the books or tutes I have mention it so I am wondering if they assume it is common sense or what...

 Huh

Also, how do you change colors in the middle of tunisian and carry it(ie working from a chart or intarsia like)?  I'm just all confused

On your pick up or cast on row ,you don't make a chain, but I usually make a chain on the last stitch before casting off. (I pull it a little tight) I am right handed so that is on the left if you are right handed to. Changing color in the middle is easy enough to do but you have to remember to bring the yarn you are using under the yarn you aren't, kinda like knitting so you don't make holes in your work. Leave a long tail because you will have to sew it in later. It can be a little tricky till you get the hang of it ,so don't give up. There is a wonderful Tunisian group on Yahoo to by the way. I hope I haven't confused you.

Thank you Thank you.  I appreciate it.   All of my books just said to proceed with dc and tr as usual.  I got confused.   I thought of the color change thing last minute.  :-P
