First of all, a million thank yous to wibit for posting her Athenian scarf, and then a fantastic tutorial.  Here is the original thread:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=208756.0

I used a 25 mm knitting needle as a broomstick to keep all of the loops the same size.  I know that wibit "eyeballed" hers and can't believe that she was able to get such neat, consistent loop sizes freehand!

The purple is slightly darker in real life.

The scarf is a gift for my mom.  Thanks again, wibit!

Simply Stunning! She will love it!

I started one in Caron Simply Soft and had to stop because a huge ball of knot came out of the middle of the skein! Ugh! I can't get it untangled. Made me so mad I stopped working on it. You've inspired me to try again!

Great job!  How'd you work with the "broomstick" in place? I can't figure that out. I'm just eyeballing mine too, but yours looks so neat and even.

Wow, wibit, I'm not worthy  Shocked !!!

To use the "broomstick", when I pulled up a loop, I simply slipped it onto the knitting needle and then pulled it tight.  Then repeated across the whole row.  At the end of the row, I slid the knitting needle out.  That kept all of the loops a consistent size.

What a  smart idea to use the knitting needles!  I loved this scarf but don't have the guts to try it myself yet.

Yours looks beautiful and the color here is lovely I bet the darking color makes it look just so lush! Fantastic job.
