Holy cats.  I had to join craftster just to say how much I love this hat.  I'm going to go see the pattern, but let's say I'm a totally novice knitter, will it be hard to figure out?  I want this hat right now!!!!

that's really nice~ i love slouchy hats too. totally adding that to my queues. was it the yarn that made yours slouchier cause i like yours better^^

ok firsts things first, thank you all for the nice kind comments, your all too nice!

maaaddhatterr- you could be completely right about the yarn. i think the original pattern called for Elann Esprit (solid)/dk/sport weight and is a cotton blend which is probably a different texture from my yarn. the only yarn that was sport weight at Michaels was the patons astra and bernat sport satin. i didn't have much of a choice so i had to settle for some acrylic. but i don't find it that bad, it's soft and it wears well so its not a problem.

fatgail - i had a little bit of an issue with the knitted on band portion of the pattern. i mean i did figure it out eventually but it was a little sketchy at first. so if you are patient and you've knitted a few things, i think you could totally figure it out and when you do figure it out you must share it with us all!
