My favorite is a bamboo D hook (for socks).  Followed closely by a bamboo G hook, a Susan Bates plastic H hook, and my trusty no-brand L hook (to make those boring scarves go a bit faster).

I bought a set of those interchangable hooks.  Purple handle with hooks that can be changed.  I usually use H or I size for projects.

My little bamboo G hook is my go-to for cotton yarn; anything else, I tend to go for my J hook, of which I now have four for some reason...

Just got all my grandma's hooks in addition to mine.  The box had her mother's teeny steel hooks, too.  What a find.

my favorite is a blue size I hook that was my great grandmas and it was my first hook. I have other size I hook and about 50 other ones in different sizes but that one is my favorite.

I love the crafty geekery of this question - and the fact that we all have an answer! It's got to be the 4mm for me - I have loads of them and it's the one I always reach for.

I've noticed US patterns tend to use larger hooks - I hadn't even realised that a 12mm crochet hook could exist in this world before I started checking out US patterns. I had to order them in especially - they don't sell hooks like that in shops over here!

Depends on what I'm working on, and what kind of yarn or thread. I have more G and H hooks, but also have at least one each of the smaller hooks, and some of the larger, from J on up. It was only recently that I discovered that hooks come in the really large sizes, like P and Q. Haven't seen an S yet, I don't know if my arthritic hand could hold on to one that big!

My Favorite is H. The stitches always come out so nice with an H hook, and I'm a more confident crocheter with it.
