Kitty-rific

Okay, so these aren't crafted FOR my pets.. but they were pet-inspired.

First, I noticed my bathroom walls were looking kind of bare. I dug through my fabric stash and came up with this to hang on the wall (my bathroom colours are burgundy/cream/black):



I've also been looking everywhere for ornaments that look like my girls, and it's near impossible (they have just about every breed of dog in ornament form, but only two to choose from for cats). So I gave up and just made my own:



And some pictures of the girls for reference Raziel is the all-black beauty and Joelle is the Toyger pain-in-the-butt (she's sitting at my feet crying because I stopped paying attention to her for two minutes. She's lucky she's so cute!)

CUTE KITTIES!! Who can resist the feline cuteness?  I love the wall hanging - the odd button eyes are a great touch.

They are SO beautiful (the kitties and the ornaments!) The kitties are so shiny! I love the idea of making ornaments that look like your cat, and the frame idea might be be what I need for a blank space in my kitchen... I love being the crazy cat lady

I love the two different sizes of buttons you used for the eyes on your picture.

Thanks!  I have an obsession with using two different buttons for eyes. I like the "country-folk-craft" aspect of it while putting "modern" twists into the craft.

The picture is really easy to make. The background is a thick sturdy cotton, then I embroidered the cat face on, stuffed it a little to give it dimension, then sewed the buttons and embroidered the nose/whiskers. The frame does not have the glass in it, so that you can see the 3-d aspects better.

newyorkdoll: Luckily, Raz (the black cat) grooms them both. I don't know what it is about her saliva, but it makes them really sleek and shiny and soft! Joelle's fur used to be kind of coarse (but still soft) before Raz took over as "groomer"

Cute! I just moved in to a new apartment, so DIY wall art is a must.

AND, I have a tabby named Earl that looks very similar to yours with a solid black brother named Bruce... I guess that is more common than I thought!
