So as I mentioned in my other thread, I got a crazy idea to make my mom and grandma quilts for Christmas about... oh... 2 weeks before and having at the time only completed one other quilt top.  Roll Eyes

My mom wanted greens (although she didn't know for what yet  Wink) and I thought she would like the Rail Fence pattern.  I love this pattern and it was so easy!  Here is her top:

Fabrics:

Design:

For my grandma I chose the colors on my own although I knew they were a good match for her and I really wanted to use triangles in her quilt so I chose the Annie's Choice pattern.  This quilt top was the bane of my existance for a while and I was up until 4am on Christmas morning finishing the top!  She loved it though so of course it was worth it.  Smiley  I think this pattern was a little bit of a jump in front of my abilities but it still didn't turn out too badly.  This is her quilt top:

Fabrics:

Design:

Now I just need to quilt them  Cheesy  I hope to finish them this month and I'll definitely post updated pictures when I'm done!

Completed quilts!

They are both lovely, but I love the Annie's Choice.  I have four blocks completed of that one myself... the blocks are gorgeous, but I hate the method of piecing them!  I wonder if I'll ever go back to it.

Lovely work!

Thanks everyone!

I saw a method posted about making two squares in one, where you'd draw a diagonal line down the middle and stitch up each side.  Did you do that?  I couldn't wrap my brain around the colors so I had to do it triangle by triangle and it was very much a pain!

I like the rail fence too!  I used it on my Dad's quilt with wood grain fabrics (see the 5 quilts of Christmas thread).  Its super fast but looks much more difficult to the untrained eye.

I finished one!  Cheesy

I added a bit around the outside because it was very small.  However, it came out a little crooked. Oops!  Lips sealed

The whole thing.

The binding.

i hate that the fancy stitching is so slow... i'm way to impatient for it!

therefore i'm impressed that YOU had the patience for it!

Ok, so I promise that this quilt has been finished a long time Cheesy I took pictures ages ago and then lost them, then I took them again and forgot to upload them. *sigh*

This was for my grandmother. As you can see I added a border to the quilt top since it was still small. I just used the backing fabric.  I stitched in the ditch to quilt it. This was a difficult pattern for me and I probably shouldn't have jumped up to triangley things so quickly Cheesy but oh well. I'm pretty sure she'd love it no matter what.  Smiley
