I made these eye masks for two of my closest friends.  The three of us are archaeologists who live in the US but work on sites in Europe, which equals too many long nights on planes over the Atlantic.  I'm hoping that these might help with catching a few hours of sleep.  If not, at least they are stylish  Smiley.  I'm crazy about the Bon Voyage patterns.

They are backed with the same apple-green taffeta that is covering the elastic.  I put thin batting in between the layers to make the masks comfy.  They certainly aren't my best work - the embroidery was rushed and I had major problems sewing even curves on my machine while the taffetta frayed everywhere - but they were made with love.  and lots of cursing.

And I like the part about being made with love and lots of cursing. I need to paint that on the wall of my studio! It's my new favorite phrase!!!!

I love these!  I've made a few eyemasks, but nothing as cute as these.  What a great idea to cover the elastic with fabric; it would certainly make them more comfortable to wear.
