So, I recently bleach stenciled Kurt Cobain on a shirt for my 2 yr old niece.  Her mom totally spazzed over it and said how she had just watched Nirvana Unplugged and was reminiscing and everything.  I really think Kurt Cobain was a musical genius and I still get sad when I think about all the awesome music we're missing out on since he died so young.  Anyway, my SIL got so excited about the shirt for her daughter that I made her this key chain using the same image.  It's done with shrinky dinks, traced off of the image and then I colored it in with Prismacolors.  I used clear shrinky paper and roughed it up with sandpaper before doing anything.  Hope you like!

I dont know how she traced it on (i am curious too) but prismacolor pencils are soft cored colored pencils that are absolutely fabulous for shrink plastic (as they are very vibrant).  I just got a pack of 24 for about 20 dollars or so.

Basically, shrinky dinks shrink to about 1/3 of their original size.  Going off of that, I decided how big I wanted it to be when finished and multiplied it times 3 to get a rough size for how big I needed it to be before baking.  So, I just resized the image to that approximate size (got the image from stencilry.org) and printed it out.  Since I used clear shrinky paper, it was really easy to see through it to trace.  I just traced the basic lines and then used the picture as a guide to do my shading and whatnot.  Hope that helps!

At Hobby Lobby, they have a 40% off coupon every other week and you can use it on any single item in the store.  Awesome stuff!  It's in the ad thing that's always in the little stand at the front of the store.
