I have a couple more gifties to share with you before we forge ahead into 2009.
First up this was inspired by a similar pillow in this year's issue of Martha Stewart Holiday Gifts.
The pup you see snuggling with my brother-in-law in the upper left corner passed away earlier this year. His name was Baxter, and he was twelve years old.
Baxter belonged to my sister's in-laws, who are her next door neighbors. Her two pups are the same breed, and Baxter was their very bestest friend.
My sister and BIL don't have any kiddos - so the loss of a dog, is an immense one. I made this pillow with printer fabric to display images of happy memories with all of her "boys"; with old Baxter prominently featured.
She totally cried when she received this! (YES! Just what I was going for!)
Next up is the CD Visor I made for my Dad. You can find the tutorial here: http://www.instructables.com/id/CD-Visor/
He loves to golf - so obviously novelty golf fabric was a must:
On to food gifts:
For my Guinness loving brother-in-law I baked Guinness Chocolate Cupcakes with cream cheese frosting:
The recipe can be found here at CHOW: http://www.chow.com/recipes/11557
For my brother, Mike and his girlfriend Sylvie, I made Ultimate Cinnamon Rolls:
I use the cinnamon roll recipe found here: http://baking.about.com/od/sweetrolls/r/ultimtecinnroll.htm
- But a tip for you. I do not use the frosting in the recipe. I recommend frosting your rolls with the cream cheese frosting used for the Guinness cupcakes. My hubby and I had just that on Christmas morning and it was HEAVENLY.
The small envelopes that you see on top of the cupcakes and the cinnamon rolls hold recipes inside.
Prezzies wrapped up and ready to go to my parents' house for Christmas Eve:
I think that this year's craft-a-long has been the most successful that I've done for myself yet. When Christmas Eve/Day rolled around I was calm and ready. Everything was wrapped and I could relax!
I'll be started a 2009 thread in a couple of days...with a couple of twists. Thank you all for taking this journey with me this year, and I hope that you'll join me again in 2009!
