I always find cool used clothes at Rag-O-Rama in the Loop.  It's not as cheap as Goodwill, but you're almost guaranteed to find something awesome.

For crazy junk I like going to Gringo Jones on Shaw Blvd.

Any one else know of some good places?

Rag-o-rama has every size clothing.  It's a really awesome store.  They just had an awesome $1 sale last weekend and I didn't make it out there. Sad

I second Gringo Jones. It's such an amazing store and you never know what you're going to find from the basement to the second floor. Every nook and cranny is filled with something! There are awesome bargains to be had!!!

I've found some real treasures at the Thrift Store on Olive at North and South (on the SE corner - NOT the Goodwill)
Friday-Sunday is 50% off. You have to dig a bit and it's hit or miss, but that's the fun, right?

Leftovers, etc. in St. Charles is awesome! They carry all sorts of fun stuff. Here is a link if you're interested: http://leftoversetc.com/. I actually work there and you never know just what you'll find!

Store 4 in the City museum (I'm almost positive that is what it is called) is INCREDIBLE. Almost everything is under 12 dollars, and they have some really great stuff that rotates often. Once they had a whole rack of old timey tuxedo jackets. I've bought tons of stuff there, including a bunch of old gold chains.

Also, just for the record Rag-O-Rama is now Avalon Exchange. It was bought out, but still sells the same things.

I have found awesome stuff (furniture, plus size clothing, vintage clothing for resell, lots and lots of old curtains of all kinds at the St. Vinny's) in both the Salvation Army and the St. Vincent dePaul stores on Forest Park off of Grand (near SLU campus). Their prices always seem to be WAY lower than the Goodwill, too.

They do have plus sizes, but their selection in that department was so lacking that I stopped going there altogether. This may have changed in the last 6 months, but seeing that it is The Loop and super trendy, etc., I highly doubt so.

^^^ I don't know about that... I was in avalon QUITE recently and actually had trouble locating the small and medium dresses for all the XL ones.

I think they even have an okay vintage selection.

The thing with avalon is their prices though, it gets me everytime. So I rarely buy anything... $24 for a 2nd hand dress?!?

I prefer just selling, because you get more than at Plato's
