I just plug into my Ipod and knit. I usually listen to the TV while knitting because I always need a TV break and can't watch TV for long without doing something else.

Normally my music doesn't have to match my knitting so much as it has to match the book I'm reading while I knit. During this time of the year it's normally something ecclectic or mellow.
Though... seeing as most of my knitting is accomplished during Academic Decathalon study time, and the subject of the study is Civil War, normally it's some random civil war era march. Be still my beating heart!

Sometimes, when I don't feel like reading a certain book, or I am behind on one for school, i get one on tape and listen to it while i knit. It actually kind of helps, because i don't get bored with the book on tape, because I have something to do while I listen.

I would love it if I could get my chem text books on tape. It would be great to be able to study while I knit.
lol. I would also LOVE it if someone made a tape of my organic chem textbook.... hey I can listen to lecture audios while i knit!! *lightbulb goes on*
Organic Chemistry while knitting?! I don't think that would work for me. Don't you need to see the molecules and mechanisims to understand what they are talking about?
There are a bunch of science podcasts out there. I'd look on podcastalley.com
http://www.podcastalley.com/search.php?searchterm=science
Personally, I like to not think about sceince while knitting (since I'm a chemistry major and I think about chemistry almost all the time anyway). I listen to a bunch of podcasts, mostly about books/tv/movies. My favorites are Harry Potter Podcasts:
PotterCast
,
MuggleCast
,
SnapeCast
,
I also like
GeeksOn
- they talk about movies, tv, video games and whatever....
A podcast about the show "Firefly"
The Signal
and a really funny one I just discovered about the show "South Of Nowhere"

It depends on where I'm knitting. If I'm on the commuter rail, I listen to my iPod - either music or a podcast. If I'm at home, I usually "watch" TV (I'm not the world's best knitter, so I have to keep my eyes on my work - so I put on something I've seen before).

I usually knit while watching TV/movies. But when I'm not in movie/TV mood, I'll listen to Henry Rollins spoken word.
That's a great idea! I love Rollins's spoken word. I think the next time I pick up the needles, I'll pop in Black Coffee Blues.

A lot of the time, I'm knitting on the bed while my boyfriend plays various old punk rock vinyl. But, I personally listen to more melodic, pretty things, like Rose Melberg (and any of her various old projects), Tilly and the Wall, or anything that makes me feel happy and bouncy and free.
But then again, I'll also listen to Elliott Smith and Joy Division, something that puts me in a very quiet, even melancholy mood. It just sometimes fits when I'm sitting alone in my room and concentrating. It kind of calms me.
I'm odd.

Not really a resource for textbooks (unless, I guess, you're in English or Classics or something), but I love listening to
Librivox
. They've got tons of audio files of books read by volunteers up for free. It's really nice for when you're doing something mindless (stockinette), especially to a deadline, when you have lots of time to listen to something the whole way through.

I watch tv when the knitting is straight-ahead. However, it needs to be something I've seen before, or something not image-dependent. No Ang Li!
Also, NO SUBTITLES!
When I'm sick of the tv thing, I love NPR!
