Hello,
Here is the Xmas present I made my 6 month old niece.  It is the Whoo Hat from the book Not Your Mamma's Crochet and some baby Mary Jane's (which at this time I don't have the link at hand, but I will edit and give credit where it is due).  They are crocheted out of Lion Microspun in three different colors (which I have also forgotten)

I am really proud of this project, because I had a really hard time with the hat, and had to restart it after about two gazillion rows.  It is squatter and less tall than the book version and I ended up adding two extra sections of colors.  I am still proud of it though.

Thanks for looking.

I hope she emails me them, as I live in Oregon and she lives in Maine (I haven't met my niece yet). Sad

the hat is absolutely lovely  - do you  attach the new colour inside  to get the layered effect ?

Yes, the row before the scallops is done in the front loop only.  When you attach the next color you use the back loop.  You then sc for a couple of rows until you get to the top of the shell, then when crocheting the next row you go through the back loop of the shell which makes it lay down correctly.

I hope that made sense.

That hat is adorable and it looks so cute on your just-as-adorable niece!

I wonder if I could make one of those hats in an adult size?

Someone on ravelry did.  I haven't been crocheting enough to give you any advice on it, but there are bunches of increases.  Sorry I don't have any advice for you.
