ReproDepot.com has really neat vintage-inspired fabrics. You can search by time period, like 40s-50s, 60s-70s, etc.

When I think of the 50s, I think of housewives, the birth of suburbia, Radio Flyers, diners, drive-ins, Formica tables, Route 66, Cadillacs, Jello recipes, dancing, Motown Records, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, James Brown, Elvis, Buddy Holly, beehive hairdos, hula hoops, oxford shoes, abstract artists (Pollock, Rauschenberg, Rothko, de Kooning), Tiki parties and Hawaiian culture, flying saucers, western wear, cowboys and Indians...

Mmmm, Jello Smiley

Also...a lot of dinnerware and drinkware was made in Japan or the USA at the time, not China Wink

Beehives were 1960s Smiley
I am very lucky to have parents who were art students in the 1950s - and loads of photos and artwork to go with it! They were beat generation - all tight black clothes and short hair (my mum!) and my dad was just very cool!
Mine will be British 1950s as a result - hoping my partner will fit the bill - I'll wait to see who I'm paired with Smiley
