The Silly Swap has gone international!
(there will be a North America only swap in the next few weeks - the international and NA rounds will be staggered but run about the same time)

If you are unsure about this swap - start crafting your item now - you can always join at the very last minute!!!!  I will be taking sign ups until the very last minute!!!

If you have followed the previous round of this swap you probably have a great idea of how this swap works - it is a very different one where you go head to head in the claiming period to attempt to get the crafted item you want!  (just like a dirty santa, silly santa, white elephant swap whatever you want to call it!)
Please read this post carefully and check out the previous round to see what you are getting yourself in to (as in a ton of fun!) and then get to crafting!

If you think you might want to sign up but am not sure if you will be able to get your large item crafted in time - start crafting and then join when you are done with it!  Last minute sign ups are always welcome but remember you must have a finished item photographed and ready to post when the claiming period rolls around!

The gory details....

Swap name:  Silly Swap International
Craftster member who is organizing this swap:  Craftydeb
backup organizers..... Tanza  &  heini
Sign-up date range:  12/27 - 1/31
Date to have item completed... 1/31
1/30 is not negotiable - if you are not finished you will not be able to participate.
Claiming period - 2/1-2/3 start/finish - 5pm craftster time
Date to send item.... 2/9
Limited to a certain number of people? No - bring it on!

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO

All ages allowed? Or 18+?  All ages - under 18, PLEASE GET YOUR PARENTAL UNIT TO APPROVE THIS!!!

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

...

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer with Silly Swap International in the subject line:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name and mailing address
I understand that this is an international swap and I could be mailing outside my own country... Yes/No

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.
But please post in here so you get updates and whatnot!!

Details of swap:

This is an international swap.  Please keep that in mind when you are crafting your item!
Sign up AND have your craft completed until 1/31

***After you sign up you can start crafting as soon as you want since you are crafting in general and not making something specific for someone!
***You are required to craft and send a large item.
***You can not add to your item after it is completed - as in no extras being sent in the box as just a little extra.  What you crafted is what you are sending... no more no less.
***You MUST take a picture(S) of what you crafted. At the end of the crafting time(or when you are completed) you will post in the gallery pictures of what you made along with a good description of it - please try to get one really good shot especially - you can take multiples though but only one will be posted in the actual thread(I will lift the pics and get them set up - no fears on that!)  Extra pics in the gallery will help your item get claimed quicker/more often possibly!
***You will not be allowed to participate in the swapping if you do not provide a picture of your finished item so if you have to beg or borrow (please don't steal) a digital camera, do so.
***What if I end up with something that I don't absolutely adore?  I am sure that you know someone that will love it!  It's all good in the end!

Here is how it will work.. It is easy peasy..
You sign up.

You craft your heart out - make something that you are very proud of.

Make only things that an adult would like (no baby or pet items please)

You submit picture(s) of your finished item via by posting pics in the gallery thread - as well as a detailed description of the item(s)

The organizer (that's me) will randomly match up partners after the item pictures are submitted.  The pictures and descriptions will then be posted with a coordinating Package Code (as in Package A, Package B, etc...)[/color]

On 2/1 the swapping will begin - I will post a list of packages early afternoon.. as soon as that list goes up the claiming period can begin - remember no chatter after the claiming period begins - only claims in this thread.. take the discussion over to the gallery!

You are NOT allowed to pick your own package as your pick!  If you do so and you end up with it you will NOT be given a final pick (that is the fail safe if you end up with your own package)

The swapping will last until 2/3 at 5pm Ctaftster (that's US - EST time, folks!)  Please try to be online 2/3 after that time just in case you need to make a final pick (if you end up with your own package - details further down)
The ending time will be the Craftster time - so at 5pm craftster time the swap will be over.  I will put up time checks the last day.
Please familiarize yourself with the time zone conversion before it is too late!!

You then have until 2/9 mail your item!  Please be prepared to get to the post office or have the free pickup service arranged if you are paying for your shipping via the internet.

You will be facing a potential negative if your package is not sent by 2/9.
I hate to sound cranky but just mail it out.  Have it all ready to go and get it on out, tay?

The actual swapping.......
You will be given five chances to snarf up the craft of your dreams... so view those crafty packages and if you see something you want more than what you have already, stake a claim..

How do you stake a claim?
Reply to the thread and type in....
I claim Package A (the tote bag with matching zippered pouch)
This is my 3rd claim....
Neiner neiner neiner it is all mine now!  bwaahaaahaaaa! (or whatever joyous exclamation you can come up with!)

then copy and paste the previous list and make your change...

You copy and paste the list from the previous person's claim it will look something like this

Package A.. tote with matching zippered pouch..... nameofcrafter
Package B.....Czech beaded Necklace Set....iaminsane
Package C.....crocheted hat and scarf set......Jane Doe
package D....Set of 4 handmade journals.....mine

very carefully claim your item by changing your package like this..
you cut out the name of the person you are stealing the package from - paste it over yours and then type in your name in the package you want.
Then highlight and hit the bold button so it is easy to see what has been done.
Do not rearrange the packages - let's keep them in alphabetical order to make life easier!

Package A.. tote with matching zippered pouch..... mine
Package B.....Czech beaded Necklace Set....iaminsane
Package C.....crocheted hat and scarf set......Jane Doe
package D....Set of 4 handmade journals.....nameof crafter

How do I do that easily?
cut out your name...
copy(or cut and paste) the name of the person who you are taking the item from
paste that name to what you used to have...
type in your own name on your newly claimed item....
Bold highlight the lines you changed...
then DOUBLE CHECK that you did it right - if you made a mistake delete it all and start over.

Please do not post up your signs of dismay and total shock in the swap thread if someone steals your ideal package - that can go on over to the gallery!!  Let's keep this thread clean so it is easy to see the line of claiming

if you are happy with what you have, you do not have to pick someone else's package - at the end of the swapping period all unused possible claims are null and void.  The big part of this swap is the actual stealing - so if you do have something you like - you might want to claim something else with some of your claims to make the swap more exciting - you can always try and claim it back!

No chatter should be in the swap thread (after the claiming period that is!) - I will immediately set up a thread in the forum for that kind of stuff!  I hope it is a chatty fun swap full of thrills and chills!
After the claiming begins this thread will be sacred - no chatter..!!!  Before that chat all you want, tay?
Please do reply to the gallery thread!!

What happens if you end up with what you made in the first place?

Okay - what are the odds of that?  You never know but just in case.. that person(s) will be given a final picking of their choice after all is said and done.  Nice failsafe, aye?

So what you think?  It is pretty easy peasy!  It will be oodles of fun
This will be the most fun if we have a TON of people signed up - so put the pressure on your crafty swappy friends and let's make this a blast!

Shipping Notes....
Please follow the usual shipping standards for swapping..
if you are a US sender - make sure you pm the organizer with your delivery confirmation number or the customs number of your international package.
For non US senders - keep your receipt and if you get a customs or a trackable number of some sort please send that along to your organizer as well.
Pack safely and securely and do not use that slow boat to China.
There are lots of guidelines for shipping here in the swap threads that you can access for oodles more information.

Also.. I will need a back up organizer so any volunteers?

To get a good idea of what this swap is and how it works please check out the original round!

I just have to go where the craftiness takes me, so I can't commit yet (but I want to!). I'm starting a Rosie the Riveter cross-stitch tonight; I think it will end up in this swap (or the next Feminist Swap)...But are non-U.S. people interested in Rosie the Riveter (The gal in the 1940s poster flexing her muscle and saying, "We can do it!")? I really don't know, so please tell me if she is known/liked as a feminist icon outside the U.S., dear international friends.

tibeydo -what swap are you signed up for?  I didn't see anything in your profile (I was curious - had to see!)

I think Rosie is pretty much international anymore - she is just too cool to not love.  I used to have a sweatshirt with her on it - it has seen better days.  It's old... well loved.
