Blanket Pattern HELP!!!

Someone bought this for my son when he was born and I'd like to make one, but can't find the pattern ANYWHERE!  anyone able to figure it out?  i certainly couldn't!

I think sprtsbear is right about it being a box stitch, but it looks like it's done on the diagonal, as here:  http://hookandyarn.wordpress.com/2007/11/25/diagonal-box-stitch/.  It's very cool.

I don't know if I can tell you how to make this or not, I just do it by heart now, never really had a pattern. This looks like a pattern that my best friends grandmother showed me how to do when I was a teenager.  First off I need to know if this is a square piece?  If it is here goes nothing.
***** You start at one corner and work out till you get it as long as you want and then work back in by decreasing each row till  you reach the other far corner. 

Start by ch 7,
dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch, ch 7 and turn.
dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 ch, (now here is the hard part to tell you.) you will have a ch 3 loop from the first row, you are going to put 3 dc in the ch 3 loop. then ch 7 and turn,
You repeat this till you get a triangle as large as half of size square you want.
Then when you start to decrease
at the end of the row you do not ch 7, turn,  sl st to the ch 3 loop, 3 dc, repeat to end of row do not ch 7 etc till you end up with one set of 3 ch . 
I wish I could just show  you it is an easy pattern and works up quick.  If you have any question please feel free to ask, I will try to make it clearer


I'm working on one right now that I'm using two skines of yarn sage green and cream. I call this pattern a basket weave, I don't know what it is really called. I don't have any pics right now but will post if I need to if it would help.
