My sister and I had an ugly christmas sweater themed party to go to, but, being Jews, we had no closets to raid!  So, we decided to represent and make our own ugly hanukkah sweater for the party.  First, she found a beautiful cropped blue number with shoulder pads at a thrift store, then we made our own appliques with double sided fusible interfacing.  It came out AWESOME!

This made me laugh out loud! Great idea, and it sure turned out ugly, in a good way. I think you may have inaugurated a new Chanukah tradition Smiley

Thanks guys!  It was super super easy to do.  I found this great interfacing that had paper on either side of the webbing and stuck to the fabric, so you could draw your design, stick it on the fabric and then cut both at once.  Once the applique is cut out, you can stick and restick it on the sweater to compose the design and do the ironing all at once at the end.  We just hot glued the ribbons for the menorah.  I am trying my hardest to turn my sister into a craftista. I'm glad I could make so many people laugh... Smiley

That's actually my sister modeling the sweater AGHF, and I don't think she's gotten that before, but I will DEFINITELY pass along the compliment. Smiley

Ha!  I just saw this in the craftster blog and cracked right up!  I was just lamenting not having a tacky Christmas sweater and now I can lament not having a tacky Chanukah sweater, either!  I might have to do something like this in a generic winter theme AND have an ugly sweater party next year.
