Esjay I love your afghan! It is exciting to see one finished. I knew yours would be so pretty. Your other one will be too.

MiLady, it is amazing that you are going to get your afghan done in such a short time...especially with your busy schedule. I can't wait to see it.

Susief00, glad to hear your mother is well. Your colors sound like they will look good for a man. Show us your afghan when you get it stitched together.

Thanks Horsepower for finding such nice squares for us.
Thanks craftADDchick for taking 2009. It seeems like that is far away, but it is actually only weeks away. Weird.

I have to make two more squares (for a total of 20), then join them. Pictures will be coming soon. I can't wait to see everyones finished afghans!

March is complete! All done on my break on a night shift, an awful night shift, it really calmed me down.

Mine is going to look a bit of a mish mash, but being a student I can't really afford to buy more wool when I have a whole bucket full of the stuff that has been given to me (or I have bought from charity shops) so I am using up everything I have trying to keep each month in a theme of colours.

This will be the biggest thing I've ever made, it took me 12yrs for my nan to teach me to crochet and even then she was amazed that I did it backwards (I'm left handed)! I just told her about this afghan and she said how proud she was of me for carrying on her family's skill.  Grin

Yay, MiLady! Keep up the great work!

And, mochaxlight, I have the directions (minus a few pics) for the flat braid saved- I really like how it looks! I'm a bit worried that all of my squares don't have the same number of stitches around, but I'll have to figure out how to work with that (any advice, folks?). I'm guessing that for some squares, I may need to add to them, so that may help, but I still might have some mis-matches...

I think "mish mash" afghans look great! It's the perfect way to keep the stash under control too.

Mine's a Mish Mash too. I did start with a colour scheme (yarn I had got from Freecycle), but lots of the squares really wanted some different colours, so I just added and added to the colour scheme.  Grin

Anyway here's is my december:

Only November to do and then the joinging.

Yeah, I was wondering about that, too. I think I might do say 15 or something around each, and space them out equally. Gr math.  Angry

There is also going to be a 2009 CAL on Ravelry, but kinda different. Here's the deets from yellowduckie.

The ravelry 2009 CAL wont be echoing the craftster group the way we did this year.

However, what we came up with is to do the craftster blocks as fillers for the ravelry blocks, and versa the other way. Smiley

Well also be listing 6 blocks.

Its for people who either dont want to do 12 squares, and/or want to make something more like a childs blanket. (Fillers will be suggested in the filler thread)

I plan to do both the 12 and 6 blankets.

Sure, you can do just the 12-12 blocks for a smaller blanket, but some of us like the smaller blocks for a childs blanket.

Next year will be great!! Cheesy

Eeee! So many blankets for next year!! Or an uber big one.  Cheesy

Row 5 in the snowflake square is kinda tricky.

Here's a photo of what it looks like up close

After you make the TCL, and chain 5, you kinda bend the chain back, so you can insert the hook back into the top of the TCL. You don't go behind the chain 5. You insert the hook sorta below it into the top TCL stitch.

I hope this helps.

I'm not very pleased with my first of aprils squares, it doesn't lay very flat and the outside rows were a bit boring, I'll carry on reguardless

YW yellowduckie. I didn't think you'd mind.  Cheesy

MiLady: does blocking help? April was chocolate delight, right? I loved that one.
