I liked the shape of the hearts without the dtr in the skipped front loop.  So, in round 5, I put the "sc in Back Loop Only" into both loops.  In round 6, instead of the dtr, I put a tr into the sc from round 5.

I'm with you on this...the heart looks cleaner.  I might have to try this.

Also, yellowduckie, thank you so much for the idea and the instructions to avoid slip stitching to each corner!  While I was using your instructions, I noticed that you may have copied the wrong instructions for working the corners.

Thanks for catching that.  I was doing alot of cutnpaste, and was concentrating on the start of each row more than the what the corners were doing.

Here's my Feb block... I only used two colors (pink and cream) and decided that each of these blocks are just gonna use up old yarn that I don't have enough for another project, and that it's gonna kinda be ugly, but whoever gets it is gonna love it!

That's nice looking.  Your doing what I'm doing, using up the scraps.  I figure it's better than having a basket full of golf-tennis ball sized yarn scraps just waiting for my 3 year old to get into:)

I'm making 2 afghans now. One is a scrap afghan & one is going to made of raspberry, marshmellow-y white, & RH Cherry Chip yarn. All acrylic, but at least it'll be durable! We need durable in my house.

Acrylic is the way to go when you're doing something like this.  Also, I live for the most part in a small town about 3 hours away from anything resembling a yarn store, so Walmart is my main *read "only"* supplier... and they only carry acrylic.  And besides, that way if you really don't like the way one square turned out, you didn't use hand-painted wool imported from Britain that cost you an arm and a leg plus shipping.  Hellas!
