So, I haven't posted here for a while so I have quite a few squares to share Smiley  Now, for some reason I haven't been able to upload the pic of all my squares together (pages says that the image is uploaded successfully, then it's just not there  Huh )....so, I'll have to show you little pics of them all individually ***sigh***

February:

January:

Plus, I have a tan one that I shared here earlier

Fillers:

I've been crocheting these like crazy because I decided that by the end of the year I should have a blanket for my grandmother and her three sisters (all in their 80's and 90's).  And I decided that each blanket should have, at the very minimum, one of the squares from each month.  So, my goal is to have four variations of each month's pattern, plus as many filler squares as I can handle Smiley

Everyone's squares are beautiful!  And there are so many of them Smiley  I'm so glad that I found this CAL to take part in!

Pretty opivygrl!

Yeah, nomij, I hate crocheting into the chain, too. Sometimes I use a smaller hook to pull the yarn through, but for Feb's square I just crocheted into the back loop. It looks fine.  Smiley

Well, I decided to start the February square tonight. I didn't like the slip-stitching and thought I knew what I was doing to avoid it. It worked well until Round 5. So, one of my sets of trebles has a chain 4 as the start of the group. Hopefully, when I fill in the rest of the way, it won't look too bad. I should have looked up yellowduckie's modifications sooner than I did Wink Next time  Cheesy

I started Round 6, but my headache is preventing me from getting anywhere with it. Based on what folks have said, I decided to wait until another day to tackle it. Kookaloo, I may be calling upon you yet!

Yay!  Success!  My first official square *ever*!
What I've learned:
My chs are too tight.  It looked like I was making one of the skull cap/Kippah  things that you wear if you're Jewish! So now the straight edges are wiggly, but hey, I'm still pretty proud!
I also learned that I can sometimes chain into the space or the back loop if my chains are too tight, (probably depending on the pattern, I'm sure!)  Thank you friends for all your help!
I mainly learned that I cannot get any housework done if I start a square.  It just begs to be finished.  My poor toddler was in the bathtub for 30 min tonite!!!! (while I sat in there with my hook!!!)  Hi.  My name is Naomi, and I have a crochet problem... I'm HOOKED!

I give you Lesson 1 of 12:

Thank you again everyone!  I can't wait to start on Feb's!

Lovely nomij! It looks like mine. Did you use Caron SS?

Here's my February. I think the hearts are a little wonky, but my mom (only a knitter) thinks they look fine. Maybe it's just me, but it's still going to be a part of my blanket. Here she is:

The light isn't the best, but it is 10 PM and I should be studying.  Tongue
The other rounds are a sea foam green, and it POPS IRL, it doesn't look as dull. Here's the color from the SS website:

Enjoy!

My next February square:

I liked the shape of the hearts without the dtr in the skipped front loop.  So, in round 5, I put the "sc in Back Loop Only" into both loops.  In round 6, instead of the dtr, I put a tr into the sc from round 5.

Also, yellowduckie, thank you so much for the idea and the instructions to avoid slip stitching to each corner!  While I was using your instructions, I noticed that you may have copied the wrong instructions for working the corners.  The reason they were (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) is that a ch 3 would already be in the corner if you had sl st to the corner.  So, each corner should actually be (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc), I think.

Atl Rnd 2: ch3, dc in next 2 dc, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp, dc in each of next 3 dc*, repeat * to * twice more, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in last ch-2 sp, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (28 dc, 4 ch-2 sps)

Atl Rnd 3: ch3, dc in next 4 dc, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp, dc in each of next 7 dc*, repeat * to * twice more, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in last ch-2 sp, dc in last 2 dc, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (44 dc, 4 ch-2 sps)

Atl Rnd 4: ch3, dc in next 6 dc (mark that first dc to be sure not to lose it for the next rnd)`, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp, dc in each of next 11 dc*, repeat * to * twice more, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in last ch-2 sp, dc in last 4 dc, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (60 dc, 4 ch-2 sps)

There are a lot of pages here, so I'm sorry if I missed someone saying this.........or if I'm totally wrong!  Cheesy
