Wow! yellowduckie, that is going to be one fantastic looking blanket when it's all finished! Neat idea to do it in Photoshop, too!

I do lots of mocking up in photoshop.  I'll take pictures of fabric when I'm planning quilts and make the whole quilt in PS before I make a single cut.  It's so cool.

That's such a neat idea! I'll have to keep that in mind when planning the layout of my squares. And, I can share it with a few of my friends who quilt...

I agree. Great Idea.

yellowduckie, I am still learning a lot of this kind of stuff, but how do you do the mocking up on photoshop. Thanks for your help.

It's easy.

You need to things.  Photoshop (or something like it) and a camera (or something like it).

There are a couple of different ways to mock up things.

One has to do when making a pattern you will add fabrics or colors too.  I'm not writing about that.

This one is about adding pics of these crochets squares to a layout of a mock up of the blanket.

Take pics of what you are working up.
Transfer the pic (jpg usually) to computer.
Open in photoshop (I don't know about other programs but it's likely similiar)
In Layers, you double click the layer called "Background".  PS will ask what to called it (Default is "Layer 0") click ok.
Click in the Menu: Layer > Duplicate Layer
When the dialog window appears, click Document, and select what document to copy the pic into. click ok.

If you haven't made a psd document, select "new".  The psd should be big enough to handle all the pics you are going to add to it.

Save the psd so you can add other pics to it,

Depending on what you need, you may have to crop the pics.

Oh, and the original jpg.  Just close it, do not save the changes you made.

I hope this is at least a little clearer than mud.  Smiley

Here's mine! It's pretty weird looking by itself, but I'll try to get a picture of all the squares together so it makes more sense colorwise.

P.S. Sorry I didn't block it or anything, I finished it late and I'm tired. :p

I like the color combo, Mienna! And, the more I see of this square, the more I love it. Might have to do it in more than one color, myself...

I still have to weave in the ends on my June square! I'm working on my July '07 before bed, and I should have that finished by Friday. Then, I can do July! I'll get myself caught up soon...

I decided to do a little multi-tasking (which means: make sure the washing machine doesn't siphon out, make sure the dryer doesn't catch fire, listen to some tunes...and weave in ends!), so I was able to finally finish up my JUNE square!

I think I made it a little smaller than my other squares, so I may need to fix that when I eventually join them all together.

If it looks a little wonky, I was under the influence of pain meds at the time Wink

It's pretty, craftaddchick!

Thanks! But after seeing yours and a few others on here, I think that the next blanket will have bolder colors...

I'm not sure if this is how I'll actually sew them together but here's all my squares together.

They all look so nice together! I have a feeling I'm going to have a hard time deciding on the final placement. I may give yellowduckie's PhotoShop technique a try... and then solicit a bunch of opinions!!

Okay, time for me to tackle my evening crochet session, and then bedtime!

It's going to look lovely Mienna. I love your colour mix.
I'm going to wait until I have all my squares before deciding on placement.
