I finished my '07 June square (which is really cool square...it's called Tilt A Whirl, I think), so I'm going to start this square soon...maybe tonight, even (I have a handbag I have to make first).  I'll be making it in one color- the rose color- so it should go pretty quickly since I won't have any color changes!

I was wondering how many people are in this CAL.
Is there any way to figure it out?

Maybe you could do show pics and then count the folks that way! I'd do it, but I should have been in bed half an hour ago- early meeting tomorrow...

But, for those of you who have done this month's square, did you have any troubles with the early rounds? I was pretty careful and my numbers still weren't coming out right somehow (I really love when patterns include stitch counts so I know that I'm on the right track...the word "around" doesn't really help me much!). I finagled things so it doesn't look too bad so far, but I can't figure out where I went wrong...

I've finished through round 6, and I think that after round 7 it'll be smooth sailing... so maybe by the end of the weekend I'll have a finished square...

Yay!

on one of the early rounds (i don't remember exactly which one) i had a few too many stitches, but it wasn't super bad, so i just kinda stretched it over a bit.  there's a lil bit bigger gap, but it's not that bad.

I had not enough stitches on round 5, so I added to make the right amount (or so I thought), but then I had an extra on round 6. Hopefully  round 7 works out right!

I had trouble starting, too. The first time I didn't read carefully, so when I went to the next round the directions didn't make sense. Then, after I fixed that, it looked like I had extra stitches, so I redid it twice!

139 pages later... I'm adding this to my new crochet project to-do list Cheesy

I never - ever... thought I'd want to make squares - I guess I was slightly biased when I was younger (3 years ago).  But now that I'm looking at all the variations of the squares being posted, I realized they are just what I'm looking for - short and to the point, beautiful yet creative AND you have small perks along the way plus one big one at the end when the afghan is done.

Thanks for all those who have posted photos of their squares - you have just made a dedicated crocheteer here  Roll Eyes

Meanwhile... some of these pictures have squares that are (VERY SQUARE) - have you guys blocked your squares already?  How did you get it to look so... square for lack of a better term.

Hello icepheonix!

i joined this CAL as i thought it would be a good way to learn a few more things, and make a couple of quite substansial christmas gifts, but gradually!  Wink

i haven't blocked any of my squares.. but most of them seem to come out quite neat, thankfully, and as i'm doin the last rounds if its not looking quite right i sometimes mess about with the corner stitches.  Wink

Hey Icephoenix! I was kinda... snooty about 'granny' squares at first, but I've learned so much and had a lot of fun doing these. I went from purely a knitter and now I find myself picking up quick crochet squares to carry with me everywhere. I hope you have as much fun as I have! I can't wait to see more squares Cheesy

I've blocked a few. Some still look a lil funky and they NEED to be blocked, I'm just too lazy, bahaha.  Roll Eyes Just make sure when they're on your towel/ironing board or blocking board if you're fancy you stretch it so it's square shaped, and use as many pins as you need to. You can never use too many pins. And besides, you can always re-block.  Smiley
