Using some old 5.25" floppy discs I found at a thrift store (brand new in the box), some cereal box cardboard, some binder rings and some scrap paper from school, I made a couple of notebooks/notepads. The guys I gave them to started to reminisce about the days when these discs were all that were available ("Double side, double density! Do you remember what a big deal that was?"). And, if anyone can find a computer that still takes these discs, they should still work because the holes are punched outside of the disk diameter! I'm a geek... and so are most of my friends Wink

Such a neat idea! I used to have tons of those really big ones- wish I had saved them!

I'd like to make something like this out of the actual floppy floppy disks that had like oregon trail on them.

I like this!

Aww, I wish I still had some of the floppy disks they made me use back in elementary (they didn't trust us enough to give us Cd's... perhaps because 3rd graders aren't the most careful beings on earth, lol Wink)

I'll bet you could still find some somewhere in some office. I know I still have a bunch hanging around somewhere just waiting to be used for something! If not, you could make these with the smaller 3.5" discs. You just would have to find another way to put the holes in. Maybe you could take out the locking tabs and use those as the holes?

I found some of the old ones here at work. They had the pre-punched holes in the  top..locking, I guess...sorry I am guessing here as I have never used them before.  Embarrassed  They did have info on them from an old company and since I wasn't sure what was on them I took the black plastic out, then replaced the silver circle in the middle. I add the small clips and they work great. I need to add more paper but I just wanted to see if i could do it with them. They are cute especially since they are colored. Smiley
