I knitted the Marley's Ghost felted chain by the designer Alison Gates.  The pattern can be found here:http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTmarleysghost.html
Instead of a long chain, I knit it as a twenty link necklace.  It took me about four hours to make. The colors are not neon, but rather jewel tone.

I thought this would be a cute baby toy, too. I love it as just a necklace, as well.

What weight of yarn did you use?

I want to make a necklace like yours!

Thank you for the kind comments.  I need to research other patterns by Allison Gates.

I used worsted weight-- Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted and Manos Del Uruguay on size US 9 dpns.  Instead of knitting three rows around, I knitted four or five rows to make a chunkier link.  I also knit two necklaces using Noro Kureyon.

Happy knitting.  I'd love to see your necklace!

Two more necklaces made with Noro Kureyon.  The colors are deeper than in the photo.
