Advent Calendar becomes Memory Bank

Here is my latest completed project. The whole thing has taken me over a month, a lot longer than I originally planned. It started as a kids advent calender, a large board book, housing 24 smaller board books.



I sanded the whole thing down, and all the mini books. Then I re-covered it in scrabook papers and added spaces for the recipient (my mum) to write in the books.

Here is the finished product...






The themes include My favourite Movies, Desert Island Discs, Quotes I love, Pet Hates.....

Totally cool, I love it!  I have herds of little board books I've bought at thrifts to alter but so far haven't taken the plunge on any yet.  So I admire you for doing it!  I absolutely love what you did and it makes a great present.  I hope your mom loves it (AND writes in it!)

Beautiful book and what a great present!  I really need to keep my eyes open for board books more often.  This will be incentive.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments! I gave the gift yesterday and my Mum was thrilled, so I'm happy. I asked her today if she had filled it on though and she says she wants to draft each book so she doesn't mess it up! So it could be a while before it's really totally completed...
I find lots of board books from travelling sales men that come to the office at work, they have great little sets like this so they're worth looking out for.
