I have some very dear, long-time friends with whom I've shared many a meal.  They have a phrase they use when the conversation drifts towards the gross or gruesome.  They say, "the eating light is on" as a reminder that the subject may be incompatible with maintaining one's appetite.  I've wanted for years to make them an actual Eating Light and I finally did.

That is hilarious, I so need one of these!  I am constantly reminding my family, "I'm eating!"

This is what I absolutely love about crafting and craftsters --- you could never buy anything that is so personal and on-target.  Inside jokes and sayings are the best gifts.  This was a flash of genius -- great job.

Thanks everyone!  If anyone is interested it's a very inexpensive Ikea lamp (Grono - but with umlauts over the "o"s) and bake-on glass paint.  Also, a compact florescent bulb, so low heat and low wattage.  The whole project probably cost about $12 or would have if I hadn't broken the first lamp (luckily, before I painted it).

I like this, came out soo good Smiley  Isn't it nice to craft an inside joke?  Makes it worth more than any store bought item.

Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.
