Happily, I pulled this off. The hoodie recon loosely follows losingstreak's tute:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=19651.120.

I variated the style of spikes to mimic Godzilla's mix of single pointed spikes and coral-y multipointed spikes.
(For reference:http://images.google.com/images?q=godzilla&gbv=2&ndsp=18&svnum=10&hl=en&start=0&sa=N)

This is a Christmas present for my niecie, Marlo, nicknamed Mozilla. She is 2 1/2 and wears a 4T.
Unfortunately, I do not have any gigantic toddlers hanging around the house to model for me.

So the couch cushions will have to do for our purposes here.

Hood down (and colors flash-washed out Tongue)

And spike detail.
BTW, this is my first machine sewing project; feedback would be greatly appreciated. Smiley

That is *cool*! Love it! Your spikes are awesome! Mozilla will *love* it!

My only suggestion is: when machine stitching a name onto fabric, use a stabilizer -- it'll keep the fabric from pulling a bit -- use a tear away stabilizer and you can rip off the parts not sewn - way fun! (Hope that makes sense.)

Thanks, QuiltersBlock! And thanks for the tip. It kind of dawned on me as I was doing this that a stabilizer would have been a good thing. I am such a hindsighter  Tongue

The one thing I did figure out at the time was that tweezers are invaluable for turning small shapes right side out. I suspect our Craftster friends in the stuffies board could have told me that  Wink

the spikes are really very cool godizilla-ish - my son would love that hoodie!! He's 2 1/2 too, so I suspect Mozilla will love it also.

Thanks gals for the comments. I cannot really take so much credit for the inspiration, though; there are tonnes of modded hoodies in the Recons board. My brother really liked the Mozilla hoodie, though. Mo herself is a bit tricky to understand over the phone yet. Please try different creatures and post here. There is no end to the possibilities. I like the idea of making mitten flap claws.
