Yeah, because:

Clock parts from Michaels: $10
(Clock parts taken off a working clock from thrift store or dollar store):Free/$1
Soup can: $.50 or less.. (and you get a meal)
old kitchen utensil: free/$1 at a thrift store...

& immediately thought you could paint your beaters in nifty colors & do something similar.
You could even add some spray insulation foam & paint it in glossy baking colors, add faux chocolate chips, sprinkles or whatever. I think hanging your apron on what looks like a recently used beater would be very cool.

This is an awesome idea.  If you could get more, you could use them as handles for cabinets, and towel rack, etc.  You could have a total mixer kitchen.  Especially if, like me, you love love love those old Kitchenaid stand mixers.  In fact, now I'm thinking I'll do this when I get my own place.  Maybe paint the room that fabulous retro green?  Of course, I won't be getting my own place for a long time...

P.S. Funny cake decorating related story - - I had a 'professional chef' boyfriend for 8 months.  He was willing to share some of his prize possession chef-type things with me - like his PROFESSIONAL GRADE KITCHENAID MIXER!!!  He even left it at my house!  Well, things went sour and I realized this was not 'the guy' and my first thought, when contemplating the break-up was - - er...dang.....he's gonna want his mixer back......maybe I can tolerate him a BIT longer.......

Windchimes!! Windchimes!! I have to run down to the local thrift stores and find some beaters now! I've been wanting to make some windchimes and those are the perfect thing to include.
