Ribbon Spool Organizers of awesomeness...

....yes, I said 'awesomeness', because I love these!

I took a jumbled mess of ribbons, and turned them into these lovelies.



Supplies:
-wooden plaque bases(these circular pieces were .50cents each at Hobby Lobby)
-wooden dowel rod (I'm pretty sure these are 1/4" ones).  One 4ft. length makes 4 12" ribbon holders.
-Glue (wood glue or something similar and sturdy
-Paint (optional)
-Sandpaper recommended

Tools:
-drill with a bit slightly smaller than your dowel rod (for a snug fit)
-ruler and pencil (if you like to measure to make sure they are centered)  A real Craftster just goes for it.
-small saw to cut the dowels

1) Drill a hole in the center (NOT all the way through) and make sure you put a piece of junk wood underneath in case it DOES go through...


2) Cut your dowels to desired length (I went with 12", which is great!)

3) Test the fit
4) Sand the edges of the dowel and the base (you dont' want your pretty ribbons to catch on anything...

5) Paint them (if desired)

6) Glue together!  You can use a level to make sure they are straight...

Pimp out with ribbons, by taking THIS:

Tidy them all up by winding the spools and pinning them:

I heart these so much!  I think I need more, and more ribbon to make them pretty...

Those look and are wonderful.  I love my ribbons but they're all tossed into one big bucket upon which I can close off their unruliness from the rest of the world.  Think I'm going to have to whip up a few of those in the new year.

Apart from the fact that it is a fantastic idea and it looks really neat ....

All I can say is bloody hell .... where did all the ribbons come from?? I have bits of ribbon, but never bought a whole spool of it before!! lol

Awesome!  And lovely collection of ribbon 

I've just been using a knitting needle that was missing its match....Turned upside down with a spool through it, it works just fine...yours look so much more professional though!

Yeah, I have a ton now!  I got these spools at all the craft stores:
Jo-Ann
Michaels
Hobby Lobby
Wal-Mart
BigLots


I usually wait until they are 50% off, cause otherwise they can cost TOO much. 
Most of these were .50cents-$1 per spool, and that is for 3-15 yards!
