That's such a great idea! My mum would love one of them, I'm sure.

Cool!

I did something like this years ago...on a much smaller basis.  I made a travel Scrabble game.  I reduced and color Xeroxed a Scrabble board to about 7 inches square then laminated it onto a thin sheet of stiff metal. (Maybe it was galvanized tin?  It was a piece of scrap my husband got at a home renovation he was doing so I don't know exactly what it is.)

I neatly laid out the wooden letters on a scanner, copied, reduced in Photoshop then  printed. I glued them onto magnetic sheets and cut them out. (NOTE: You can buy 8 1/2 x 11 sheets in Staples which go right into the printer.  I, however, being cheap, used a whole mess of those free giveaway magnetic business cards and just glued the printed paper to them)  I even sewed up a little drawstring pouch to store them.  (They are pretty small!)

I also made little racks from strips of the metal.  They're about 5" long and 2" wide,  folded in half the long way, so they stand up. (The letters obviously stick to the rack, too.)

The actual cost was virtually nil.

Great for those endless train/bus/plane rides and long stopovers.  I really love it because it's so small and lightweight. (I still have it somewhere in my travel bag, deep in my closet.)

That's a totally amazing idea. I'm deeply tempted to set one up in my house now.
