I started running out of crafty gift ideas this Christmas, especially since many of my friends have already received most of the crafts I like to make. However, this year one of my friends adopted a chihuahua-dachshund mix, so I had a new challenge: the dog sweater. Behold my canine creation:

I forgot to take a pic before I gave it to her, but you get the idea. The dog's name is Barbra Streisand, so I charted her nickname, "Babs," onto the sweater with leftover yarn from other projects. I haven't done much charting before so it is sort of uneven, but since she's a dog I doubt she'll notice.
I also didn't know how big she was, as I had only seen a photos, so instead of making a full on sweater I just made two straps to go on the underneath side, one for her middle and one for her neck, knowing they would stretch. I think it fits pretty well for not knowing her size.

p.s. I'm not a dog person but I have to say that Babs was quite the sweetheart well deserving of a personalized garment.

So, so cute. Babs definitely deserves a personalized sweater. Good thinking with the straps, too- it looks like it fits her.
