So my mom's birthday is 3/20(First day of spring, btw) and I made her a purse WAY early, so I wouldn't have to rush it, you know? But then when we went shopping she was looking at these PLEATED purses for like $50, and I was like, "nonono mom, you don't want thatttt!" *trying not to blow my cover*.. so she didn't buy one, but she did buy me this really cute jumper I wanted, so then I felt bad because she really liked those purses.. so I gave her her present early. (:
(I'm going to make a matching clutch for her birthday and not give it to her early) shh!  Tongue

Hers

but then I liked it SOOO much for my first pleated purse, I had to make one for myself. And I had the perfect fabric(bka a skirt Roll Eyes ) to use to make one, so heres mine:

but I made the strap too long, and I didn't want to cut it, so I made it into a bow

Together Smiley

Ok, so it's not COMPLETELY matching, but whatever. It's still not on the NOT-COOL list, right? Tongue

I loveeee that fabric! but I only got 1/2 a yard because it was $3 Sad (It's because the closest walmart to my house always gets the fabrics in late, and they're usually last season, so none of the good stuff is on sale.) buttt thats why I'm a thriftstoreoholic, hence the skirt made purse Smiley

They are both really, really cute. In fact, they're just the type of bag I have been wanting to make. Did you use a pattern? Great work! Smiley

I used this tut for my mom's, http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=149376.0 , and for mine, I just made everything ALOT smaller.

The tut was SO easy to remember, I've only made my mom's purse reading it along and I knew it by heart to make mine.

I've never seen a bag done like that before. Great work done on them.

As a mom, I just have to say it's definately not lame to match one.  Wink

Seriously cute purses and your mom is lucky to have a very talented and generous daughter!  Aw, enough mush?  Wink
