My daughter just bought a laptop and she was looking for a cool case to carry it around in.  Of course, when you have a specific idea you cannot find anything that even remotely resembles it.  All she could find were dull boring black ordinary cases.  That would just not do! 

I decided to make her one as a Christmas present.  Now...her favorite color is green and she loves owls.  So I came up with this:
     



I still need to put a few finishing touches.  I want to put eyes on the owl but I haven't found just the right buttons yet.  But I wanted to go ahead and post it here before I wrapped it up to put under the tree.

What a cute bag.  I always need something bigger because I tote my cords,  but I really like it.

I used quilters cotton.  It is hard to tell from the pictures but I did use 2 different kinds of green.  They are both lime green but the pattern is different.  The owl is cotton as well. The straps and binding are out of this suede-y kind of fabric that I had in my stash.  I used quilt batting for padding and stiffened it with InnerFuse, a double-sided stiff fusible interfacing. 

I need to make a separate bag for the cords but I made sure that there is enough room inside the case to hold the cords, maybe a notepad, pens, etc.  Whatever she needs to throw in there.

this is great! i need a new laptop bag but was afraid to make one. you have inspired me! did you use a pattern or make one up?
