Our family has created a tradition of making stockings, filling them with homemade goodies and giving them to friends and family as Christmas gifts.  Each year when they come to visit they bring their stockings back to be refilled with more homemade goodies.  I thought I was finished with the stocking-making about three years ago.

This year I was presented with the unique & wonderful challenge of finding/making a gift for my best friend's boyfriend whom I have met only once.  So then I thought 'well...I've made stockings for everyone else, I should make one for him' which lead to me remembering that when I was about to present the stocking to the best friend (3 years ago now) I discovered his stocking, along with one I was about to give another friend, had been destroyed and the contents had been eaten by my dog.  So I thought I had better replace the damaged stocking too, which lead to me thinking about all of the new friends we've acquired (largely through my romantic interest moving in) and how they should have stockings too.

Needless to say, what started as a relatively quick and painless project has turned into a full on frenzy to get the count of 18 stockings needing to be made done by Christmas.

Here are a few which are done so far:

The stripey/moire one is for the best friend.  The plaid one is for his lovely new boyfriend.  They're stuffed in that pic as we did our Christmas with the best friend yesterday so they look a little lumpy-bumpy but I assure you they're nicely shaped when not stuffed.

Those 5 are for other friends and family.  I wasn't 100% sure about the shape of those ones, when I drafted it I wanted the booty ones to look a little Dr. Seussesque and I think I achieved that and they're growing on me.  I was mostly concerned with finding fabrics and trims which spoke to the person each one would go to so each one is different...it's a good thing I've got a really big stash.

There are a few more which are finished and others in various stages of done-ness but I think I'll have them all done in time.

Thanks!  I dunno if you'd like being adopted into our motley crew much.  We're pretty neurotic Wink

Thanks and my pleasure!  The stockings are usually a hit (who doesn't like getting a stocking?)

Here are eleven of them all done:

Turned out I was to make 21 in all but many of them left the house before I got a chance to get pictures of them.  They've been well received so far, even had someone commission a whole set for her family for next year Smiley
