Okay, so it was my neighbour/friend's 21st birthday yesterday and if you saw a couple of my other cakes we always try to think of new cool ones to do. Well this time I had a burst of inspiration when I was eating pizza! We came up with two types -- pepperoni and deluxe.

After I thought of this idea, I looked around on the internet to get some ideas because I knew I wouldn't be the first. Here's the main one I looked at:
http://www.grouprecipes.com/3081/jakes-pizza-cake.html

You can tell I didn't really stick to the same ingredients at all, except for the cheese and olives.

These cakes are simple 9" box yellow round cakes I think, my friend pre-made them and brought them to my house -- we used baking paper on the bottoms of the pans, then levelled off the tops and just flipped them upside down and decorated the bottoms. The tomato sauce is red icing-- it was hard to get the colour at first but you don't need too much, so we put a layer of pink then a dark orangey-red for the sauce over top. The toppings are:

PEPPERONI:

pepperoni - fruit leathers cut with water bottle caps
cheese - shredded white chocolate (if you stick it in the microwave for a VERY short time, like 10-12 seconds, the softer chocolate makes the bigger shreds)

DELUXE:
Pepperoni, cheese
olives - dried blueberries
mushrooms - flattened white sugary jubejubes cut into mushroom shapes
green peppers - green gummy "trees"(because it's Christmas that's the only shape I found haha), sliced
sausage - chocoloate covered graham pieces (kind of like "Clodhoppers" but bulk and shinier)

It's really fun to experiment with different toppings. See what you can come up with! Maybe add things like anchovies, tomatoes, pineapple, spinach, cheddar cheese... endless!

I just went to Domino's and asked the girl for two small pizza boxes. She looked at me a bit weird but gave them to me for free.

Oh P.S. -- it actually tasted delicious! I was afraid to even try it but really the cakes were moist and good, with the outsides a bit harder like "crusts"- I'd recommend serving it the same day you make it.

There's not much in this world that can't be improved by either chocolate, bacon or glitter.

Hysterical and very creative ideas for imitating toppings!  Awesome that you even got the boxes!

Haha I love it!  I've seen the idea, but your pizza-cakes really look good, especially the cheese!  Good work. Smiley

Thanks guys, they were so fun and easy to make! The pictures really don't do the cakes justice as they look MUCH more exciting in real life. The lady at the bowling alley almost didn't let us bring them in because she thought we were trying to bring in real pizza!

Wow, that's amazing! I'd be afraid to eat it because it looks like it really is pizza. Nice job.
