I wanted to try out making designs but I all I had was scrap yarn. The design I used was this:

I didn't do the center color. I ended up with this:

The dots on the bottom are there because I misunderstood the pattern, but didn't it turn out so cute? Now I'll go to the store and get yarn to make a real hat.

Nice!  Was that your first time working with color changes?  You did a good job.  My first time working with multiple colors was a fair-isle hat and I pulled too much on some of the carries across the back and the hat puckered really oddly. 

if you can't be a good example then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.
