I think the theme for my Christmas gifts this year will be personalized items

My ideas:

for the kiddos:
monogrammed hoodies, sweaters
tutus for the girlies
super hero cape for the boys

for the big people:
framed names using wordle.net
collage pictures with names intertwined
personalized mousepads
etched mirrors, vases, baking dishes, wineglasses

Ive got a few early november birthdays, so it's a busy time!

Mom - hooded scarf. still need something else.

Stepdad - his birthday is first week of november, then its christmas. I've got an idea for a decoration for our beer themed basement (he collects bottles) that I can hopefully finish by his birthday. Then idk for christmas.

Grandma - hooded scarf for her birthday. I'm about 70% done. For her and grandpa for christmas I'm hoping to make a kind of table runner for them. Ive got my pattern I just need to get my supplies.

Grandpa - I want to make him a little herb garden for in their apartment for his birthday, so I need to go see what supplies I can find.

Uncle - ?? He's practical and I dont know how into something crafty he would be.

Aunt - I'm thinking something embroidered, maybe pillowcases or dishtowels.

Boyfriend - He's getting an advent calendar, which I'm still working on the blueprint for Tongue There'll be a bunch of little things, and then he's getting a crocheted scarf and hat set, another season of Friends, and maybe some other little thing.

Good friend Amy - Still not sure, but won't be too difficult.

Twin sister - earrings/headbands/other jewelry and accessories

I need to go out for some supplies, but other than that I think I'm doing well so far. I've got lots of free time at the moment, so I think I'll actually get things done on time this year!

I'm making hats for everyone -- 5 3/4 are finished and I have 3 1/4 hats left to make... these are the finished ones:

and this is mostly done (needs to have the lining attached and some trim):

Great Christmas idea! Did you use a pattern for the purple hat or the fedora? If so, I would love to know what pattern you used.

hello!  Smiley

i've just joined today cos I was looking for some crafty ideas for this christmas, this is my first ever post!

So far this year I'm planning on making most people gifts, but they're mostly food!

Dad - chocolate truffles and chocolate layer biscuits
Mum - gloves (not homemade, I'm not so hot on the sewing!)
College friends - cookies and gigngerbread men
Brother - stollen and mince pies

But I'm struggling to think of something for my mate Dave. Hes really into good food and cooking, so I want to make him something on this theme - I was thinking like a book of recipes that he really loves; he raves about my mums chocolate brownies and my chilli!

I'm also making all of my own cards this year, and christmas crafts for around the house - like DIY crackers for the table, we have a table centrepiece that me and my mum are going to make - Flower balls! Its just an oasis ball with flowers covering it, but they look so good! We're also doing the traditional oranges covered in cloves, and I'm thinking about making salt dough decorations for my gift wrapping.

for dave, i think he would really like the recipe book. you could pair it with a simple "manly" apron. you could easily buy a premade apron at the craft stores because you said you arent too good at sewing. & then just embellesh it with stuff he likes. Also, bsonlytoots [here on craftster] embelleshed some wooden spoons & stuff with shrinky dink charms of world places [eifel towel, etc]. Maybe you could go that route. I'm sure that'd be easy to do. AND she made a magnet that said "REAL men wear aprons" lol. Pair it all together and you have a really awesome handmade gift.
