Here are some ideas I've made over the last few years for Christmas (bulk Christmas gifts rock...shh! Cheesy!):

After posting last year's topic, I also made these for the family baskets http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=218225.0  Last year was a VERY fattening Christmas, but everyone was happy (and my skin/hair/hands smelled like tasty cocoa for 2 days Cheesy).

MMM cocoa Cheesy, Christmas is the one time of year we can indulge before entering into the new-year mechanics of trying to lose weight again Tongue.

I love giving gifts from the heart that go straight to the waistline Cheesy

I like to do baskets of things I have discovered over the year.. like BBQ sauce and candy.. nothing expensive.. just good finds.

An idea for you I just found these smoker bags that I'm giving the men in my life (Dad/boyfriend/friends) www.bigacres.com/smokerbag.html they are $3.50 ea and they look like a cool idea! I figured I'd give them each one for Christmas and then if they wanted more they'd know how to get them! That and grill scrapers etc.. now is the time to buy them as people seem to BBQ tools on sale thinking no one grills in the fall:)

cousins and aunt: Spoon pendant necklace of our Grandma beaded in their favorite colors; and other misc jewelry.

I plan to put the relative's gifts in little homemade boxes. So i went searching for box patterns, I figured I'd share them.

I just finished these lastnight.

I'm going to fill them with supplies (super cheap right now) and give to the kids' teachers at Christmas.

Since I used fabric I already had, this was a CHEAP but nice project!

What do ya'll think?

To give credit, the pattern came from the book (www.zippystrippyqui lts.com).

I love making these!  Each one was under 30 minutes to make!  My only problem is that there is NOBODY in my family that would appreciate these.  The teachers are the only one's who might.

Doesn't it bite to have family that dont appreciate homemade???

OI posted this on the other christmas thread, but thought I'd reply here too since this one gets more participation...

NOW, for an idea for the MEN-- my kids came up with this and I thought it was BRILLIANT!

If you have a man that goes camping/outdoors alot, the stores sell fleece bags that you put inside your regular sleeping bag to make it warmer.  My boys wanted them and I kept telling them no.  Well, they saw my big fleece pile in the closet that I never got around to using, and they came up with making those fleece bags!

What a great gift idea for men!  And a great way to use up that fleece when it goes on sale super cheap!

Just a thought!

Joyfullheart, I think that's a brilliant gift for teachers! (Or for anyone, for that matter.) My roommate is a teacher and I know she would adore something like that. You should fill it with a few sugary goodies, too. Teachers need the strength from chocolate!

I know what you mean about handmade not being appreciated. I feel like every year I knock someone off my list of handmade gifts, because they just don't get it!

The sleeping bag fleece liner is a very great idea. I have a few camping friends that I think I may do that for...

And for everyone else, I finally found this killer sugared pecan recipe I got from an old coworker. His wife used to make them all the time, and I'm telling you I've never tasted anything better. I'll post it as soon as I get home - handpaint a jar and you have a fabulous gift, I think. Smiley

I'll take one Smiley lol It's adorable. I'm sure the teachers will love it!!!

I know what you mean about having a family that doesnt appreciate homemade, but I dont care. They pretty much know that thats what they are getting from me anymore. There are just too many of them for me to spend a bunch of money on. The only time they get bought stuff is when I can't make it & they requested something in particular or if I find some really good deals on stuff. ie the pj set for my grandma & my mom & the victoria's secret bathsets.

EmbarrassedIt's totally not handmade, BUT you could decorate the frame. I received a digital frame last year from boyfriend and I LOVE it! I've put pictures of our Christmas and all the things we've done this year in there and I've still got a ton of room for more pictures! You can also put songs on some of them! So it's kinda handmade Embarrassed I think it's a great idea for Grandparents that you just can't think of anymore things for. You could "borrow" it every so often and load on new pictures? Make felt frames for each season?
Just a thought?
