I made these using the basic pattern in "The Starving Artist's Way."  I used 2 old sweaters, one shrunk on accident, the other on purpose.  I freehanded the stitching to jazz them up a bit.

And the (fuzzy) closeups:

The star stitching could be better, but overally I'm pretty happy with my results and my feet are toasty warm.

i personally think the book is awesome!  I'm sure that there are some people out there who could figure out how to  do every bit of it without instruction, but most of us have areas in which we do not excel, and it's perfect for that.

Neato.  I got that book for Xmas and bypassed the slipper pattern thinking they would turn out misshapen.  Now I can't wait to try this project out.

they do, you can find the book through Amazon.com and BN.com  very cheap.   Sorry i couldn't be more help, but as I'm trying to get an agent for my book right now, I'm a touch sensitive to the copyrighting stuff.

I used a similar pattern that's posted online at marthastewart.com and I've made 6 pairs.  Not sure exactly how similar, but they came out looking structurally the same as Ne's.  Nice thing is that it gives the percentage to blow the pattern up for each shoe size.  I don't know if patterns generally do that, but it's handy.
