I can't take the credit for this design, only the pattern and execution.  Its for a friend of mine and he was very very specific about what he wanted.  The cap is made in a beanie style, HDC throughout with three rows of FP/BP DC at the bottom.  Then I made the skull patch in SC, just figured it out as I went along, and sewed the patch onto the hat.

Here it is, as modeled by my coffee cup......

Not at all, go for it.   I've been thinking about making a pink camo with pink skull for my little girl.  I'd love to see different color combos!

I started with a 5mm and used that for the crown, all the increase rows and then the next five or six rounds.  Then I switched to a 5.5mm hook for the rest.

Wow, that hat is very cool! How does your friend like it? Personally, I would've added teeth to the skull. I think picot stitch would work for that. It still is very good!

Your skull is wonderful!  I'm sort of skull obsessed and have seen some seriously godawful ones around this here internet.  YOURS, however, is one of the good ones.  Awesome job!

Ohhhh I agree with the skull. Would love to find a good pattern for one. My soon to be son-in-law would love this hat!
