I needed something for my brother's girlfriend for Christmas. She's 19 really lovely, a tiny size 8 (Australian) and dresses in great, simple and classic pieces. I really wanted to make something special and I needed to stash-bust my supply of this gorgeous Thai satin that I never seem to want to cut up. Ironically it only used a tiny amount, so I still have heaps left. I flipped through my old collection of Burda pattern books and found this simple corset-style top.

I managed to measure her to get her size but still being a little nervous about not being able to fit her properly, I adjusted the pattern to a lace-up back and added removable, adjustable bra-like straps out of satin ribbon. The lining is a random slippery fabric in skin tone from the remnants bin.

I so hope she likes it. It would have been a quick project if I didn't have a bitch of a time attaching two slippery fabrics together while trying to get it all to line up properly.

And please give kudos to my pillow for modelling  Grin.

Comments welcome, Eve.

She would have to be crazy not to like it, Its gorgeous, and obviously you put some effort into it!! Adjustable lacing means it should fit too...unless its too big, which shouldnt be hard to fix anyway.

It looks terrific and I love the fabric! What a gorgeous model you have, too!  Cheesy

Seriously, you are on a *roll* with all the holiday sewing you've been doing! Great job(s) on all of them. Kudos to you for thoughtfulness and crafty-styling.

that's lovely!  i really like the color of the lining--it's looks like an antique wedding dress i saw somewhere.

Oh, it's just kittens.

I want to leave this world the way I came into it:  naked, screaming, and covered in someone else's blood.

Your corset is great looking and I understand your hesitation at cutting up that fabric, it's gorgeous! I'm sure she'll like it, she'd be crazy not to!
