Not the most elaborate of crafts, but slight modifications to shoes for my nieces.  It's kind of a tradition that their Auntie T-rex gives them shoes for Christmas.  T-rex loves her some shoes after all.  But, I wanted to have a craftier holiday this year and didn't feel up to tackling making-making shoes.

For J who's 11 years old, 5'4"+ and a woman's size 10 shoe.  That's my size, but I don't feel sorry for me, just her.

I covered BIG buttons with that hot pink faux fur that I put a white grommet through first.  Actually sewed them on (using Vice Grip to push and pull needle though, then ended up bending the shank and gluing them down with E6000 anyway).  Apologies for the blurry photo - it's dark early and that's as still as I could be for some reason.

For Jorda who's 9 and a girls' size 3.  Actually more difficult to find a shoe to modify for her.

Found these heart buckle/buttons and added the green ribbon.  E6000 holds it all together.

Thanks for looking!

What a great aunt!  Both pairs are super cute.  I love the little heart buckle things on the second pair... the colors look so good together.

Those are adorable! The second pair is my favorite, too.

Excuse me, Mister Pete, have the Cubans a different beat? If they have will you teach me to chick-chick-chicky-boom, chick-chicky-boom?

Wow! That's a really really good idea! I never thought of modding shoes!

I think both pairs are great, but the second pair is my fave.

Thanks everyone!  I really like the second pair, too, but think that each fits each girls' personality and needs.  I sure hope I'm right!
