I made Koolhaas for my Dad for Christmas and just love love love it! It feels luxurious, but it's economical (takes less than a skein of malabrigo-quite a bit left over). It's a simple project, but the stitch pattern is different so it keeps you engaged. I often struggle with presents for the men in my family, so I was thrilled to find this little gem.

Pattern: Koolhaas from Interweave Knits Holiday 2007, by Jared Flood aka brooklyntweed
Yarn: Malabrigo worsted
Needles: 16" circulars, size 6 for ribbing and 8 for the rest
Modifications: None! Made the larger size.

I go on and on in the blog, if anyone's interested.
Thanks for looking!

That is a beautiful hat.  I really glossed over that pattern, but you've inspired me to use my leftover malabrigo to make one of these for a gift!  Beautiful!  And malabrigo feels so nice!

That's super! Man, I so wish I could knit. At least I can crochet though, and I'm thinking of making my man a beanie, huzzah!

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

kholbert- you can get the IK holiday 2007 magazine on ebay:

It's a little pricey...but I LOVE this magazine- I have about 5 patterns from it in my queue.
