Hi! I'm making a triangle shawl in fingering weight silky wool.. pretty much just winging it. Basically, so far, I've been going about it in stockinette stitch, increasing in a yarn over after the first stitch, just before the center stitch, just after the center stitch and just before the last stitch, if that makes sense. Basically, I have pair of eyelets going up the center of the shawl, and eyelets going up either side of the shawl.

It's looking boring.

I want to try to incorporate some kind of eyelet design, or reverse stockinette chart of sorts in the stockinette portions of the pattern (on either side of the center eyelets), without disturbing the increasing thing I have going on.. but I don't know how to go about doing this.. :/

Any ideas?

Lace is usually done with yo and accompanying decreases.  Check out the triangle shawl list at simpleknit's blog. Smiley

leave the yos as yos, but turn the knits into purls (or into yos) in a way that pleases you (remember lots of yos all started at once will probably make the shawl wider). Find pictures on Google for ideas.
