Oh no, I guess it's too late even with the time difference?!!

Anyway, I did this on an evening class in ceramics, combining clay with my love for doilies!! Great way to use a doilie (sp? doily?), and after a run in the washing machine it is ready to be used again...

Thanks for looking!  Smiley

Amazing!!!!  What a creative way to combine crafts!  Your clay piece looks so unique, and I absolutely love it.  I'd be curious to see the doily you used on its own, too!

It's lovely!

Like all art, it touched off something within:  My aunt is an artist, and on my mantle I have an angel she did using my great-grandmother's hand-crocheted lace tablecloth to press in like this. It's such a treasure...I hadn't thought of it in a long time (who thinks while they're dusting?!).

Thanks for the kind comments!!

Graced, I'd love to see it if you have a picture? It's great with textiles that have some kind of memory, makes the piece really special.

SomethingSweet, this is the doily I used (looks a bit strange because I photographed it on my knee...):

I bought that one from a charity shop, I always buy them when I find them, love doilies! I use them in my paintings as well, like this (detail from a painting...)

This is my current WIP, using a vintage pattern somebody kindly posted on Craftster (unfortunately can't find the link!). I am going to use it in a curtain, but the idea is to first make some flower pots in ceramics from it...

KittyCreates ;  I think it's a really exciting technique, have been thinking of trying to use embroidery for my next piece, maybe a bowl or platter with some nice chain stitch imprints... Let us know if you plan on using it for something, I'd be interested to see the results!!
