Tattooed Wedges: ugly to awesome!

I wish I had a before picture to enter in this month's craft challenge!
these used to be some very ugly, uncomfortable denim platforms that pinched my toes, but I love how tall they were so I kept them.
Finally one day I decided to spruce them up & here's the result, et voila!


I cut the straps to give my toes a little more room & re-sewed them with some tough thread, the lettering is Latin for "She Flies On Her Own Wings"

Wow — these remind me of the shoes I saw on this guy's Web site (http://www.myspace.com/ndeurr) except I bet what it cost for you to make them is worlds less than what he charges. Such a great idea!

Wow, I need a pair of those.  The artwork goes so well with the style of shoes.  What kind of paint did you use and did you seal them?  Where did you get you inspiration?  Do you have any action shots?
