Hi everyone!!  Inspired by all of your kind comments I was motivated to make Splinter, master of the TMNTs.  The original TMNTs were posted here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=209461.0.
It took me until now to complete him, even though I only had to make a pattern for his head, tail, and kimono.   For Splinter's body  I used the same modified pattern from Rheatheylia  that I used for the TMNTs. His head was complete serendipity/beginner's luck!  His kimono took me a while since I tried it first in crochet, and then went back and knitted it.  I am really happy with him and I hope you like him too.  I can't wait to give them to Lana.
Anyhow, without further ado here's Splinter!!

Splinter

Him riding one of their bikes...sorry can't remember which son this belongs to.

Side view

You can see a better pic of his profile from this shot and how his head is attached.

Front view

You can his kimono and his sash clearly in this pic.

Splinter and his sons relaxing after a long ninjitsu workout!

Thanks for looking!  Comments are always appreciated.  Smiley

ETA: Splinter pattern.  I hope there aren’t any errors here.  Enjoy!!  Please post yours!!   Thanks again to Rheatheylia for her pattern!

Splinter's head
Magic ring of 8 (Cool
sc around (Cool
inc ever sc (16)

sc 2 inc repeat (21)
sc 2 inc repeat (28)

16 sc inc next 12 (40)
sc around 3X more (40)
Play around with his head and pinch together the bulge to form his ears sew across with a piece of yarn.  Looking down into
his head you should have a circle now.  Insert his eyes before the opening gets too small
2sc 1 dec repeat around the circle till you get back to 8 (fill when you get to 20 or so stitches)
pull thru remaining stitches

Body, Arms, and Legs entirely the same as Rheatheylia’s Beary Jackson  (http://www.rheatheylia.com/index.php?page=patterns&id=2) with a slight modification. To the body
In her pattern the head and body are done in one piece.  I only needed a body so....I did a magic ring then followed her instructions exactly from 16-28.  I just added a magic ring first.  I didn’t stuff the arms/legs.

modified Body
Rnd 1: 8 sc in a magic ring   (Start ring with a long lead so that you can use this to sew the head and arms to the body.
Rnd 2: Sc around (Cool
Rnd 3: Inc every other (12)
Rnd 4: Sc around (12)
Rnd 5: Sc around (12)
Rnd 6: Inc every 3rd (16)

Rnd 12: Sc around (20)
Rnd 13: Dec every 4th (16)
Rnd 14: Dec every 3rd (12)
Sew bottom together flat using a whipstitch...leave a long tail so that you can use this to sew on the legs.

Splinter's kimono (knit)
note: knit on front and perl on reverse; made in 3 pieces
back
cast on   stitches
16 rows

Do sleeves as well as front and back panels at the same time to ensure uniformity.  Smiley

sleeves (make 2)
cast on 12 stitches
knit around
purl around

front panel left:
cast on 8 stitches

front panel right:

sash (crochet)
sc 26
make 4 rows

Attach the head to the body using the yarn from the body and continue onto the arms.  Hopefully you'll have enough left over to do a simple chain for the tail.  Then using the yarn from the bottom sew on the legs.  Seam the kimono together and fasten with the sash, sewing it into place after dressing him.  Enjoy!

Awesome! Isn't it great that we can make inexpensive original toys for our kids. And they're more durable. Great work!

Thank you Tanzie, Tattooedcrafter, Celtic_Frog, Littlebluegirl, and Crafterwoman!!
It was a total labor of love.  I am horribly slow at this.  I really am not a crocheter.  Another great thing about these types of toys is that they definitely don't contain lead.  And yes, I am a little proud of myself.  I really can't wait for Lana to see them on Christmas morning.
